when i first heard ‘baby step‘ i was mesmerised. something about its trancey, hypnotic whimsy really got under my skin. when i found out the man who’d made it was a part – or in fact founding member – of studio barnhus, things made more sense.

you sort of get the impression from his music that axel boman was a nightmare child. one that never sat still, always wanted to play with something – everything – at the same time. anything that made a noise, shined brightly, was multi-coloured or potentially mischievous, no doubt little axel was all over it, just like he is in musical terms on his latest release, europa.
