this week was the week i made my most sterling purchase of my entire record buying career. at a leeds record fair i picked up a minty copy of metro area’s seminal debut lp from 2002 for a mere tenner, half of what it’s worth on discogs (at least). i might be ten years late on it, but there are plenty of amazing recent reelases, too. redshape’s next masterful lp is soon to drop, as is aybee’s ‘worlds’ with a proceeding ep available now. so too should you keep an eye out for an interview on here with damien zala, a french producer who’s debut lp is deep and housey with plenty of warm atmospheres and vintage sampling throughout. if you read the reveiw of black jazz consortium‘s latest you will know i like it and hence it finds its way ito this weeks chart. topping it all, though, is a great ep from deep88 with great sampling, plenty of woody, moody vibes and all culled from a forthcoming full-length. it’s my tip of the week.
