gerry read readies jummy


ramp recordings have announced they are to release gerry read‘s debut album, jummy, on cd, digital and 2×12 on november 19th.

the mysterious and low key producer has been one of the underground’s most venerated new talents in 2012 thanks to his beguiling brand of roughshod, tossed-off sounding house and techno that stacks jazzy loops on top of one another, comes coated in years of muck and dirt and sounds like might moodymann if here were younger and angrier. so far there have been a trilogy of eps on ramp’s sub label fourth wave, a number of remixes and some cheeky vinyl only releases of his own as well as alongside the likes of kevin mcphee.

you can listen to one of the tracks off the album below – a slightly slower than usual house looper that manages to be raw and industrial yet soulful and groovy at the same time. the rest of the tracklist is also below and you can catch gerry if you happen to be in london when he plays a free party tomorrow night with boss tom kerridge at a fourth wave label night. full details over on facebook.
