inimitable new york duo wolf & lamb have finished a second album on their own label entitled versus. set to be released on october 22nd, the 7 track follow up to 2010′s love someone is, somewhat unsurprisingly given the renowned collectivity of their modus operandi, a collab heavy affair. close family members soul clap appear, as do no regular play’s greg paulus, doo-wop house trio pillow talk, french singer rap lisa and former ra writer william rauscher aka night plane.
the brand of house music gadi mizrahi & zev eisenberg have released on their eponymous label reflects the vibe (i imagine, and am told) of one of their intimate marcy hotel parties. woody, warm, human and heartfelt, it was amongst a first wave of deep and slow music four or five years ago that seemed to turn popular opinion against cold and abstract minimal. since then, their operation has expanded – forever bolstered by their podcast series, full of after-party favourites for people everywhere – and has launched the careers of a number of artists including nico jaar, le loup, most of visionquest, no regular play and more. fans will be pleased to know the album (from a first listen) marks no radical new direction, instead continuing to deal in plenty of mid tempo grooves, late night romance and underlapping r&b sexiness all backlit with seductive synth work.
